METIS ALP for CRY segments Design and Analysis
Presenter: Lou Chien Lu (ASIAA)
This report presents the design, structural analysis, and verification of the METIS Cryostat Assembly Lifting Platform (ALP), developed by ASIAA as part of the METIS AIV sequence. The ALP is designed to lift and support cryostat segments up to 1020 kg during assembly and disassembly operations while maintaining compatibility with METIS system interfaces and cleanroom standards. The mechanical design incorporates a synchronized hydraulic lifting mechanism, precision alignment brackets, and a compliant buffer system to ensure sub-millimeter positioning accuracy and safe operation within ISO 7 environments.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was conducted using ANSYS to evaluate the ALP's performance under both static gravity and combined earthquake loading conditions. Results confirm that all components exhibit acceptable deformation and stress levels with sufficient safety margins according to the specified mechanical requirements. The analyses demonstrate that the cryostat ALP design meets all performance and safety criteria, ensuring reliable structural integrity and operational precision for METIS cryostat assembly and integration activities.
