The Design of the BURSTT Antenna Array in Greenland

This study aims to design a reliable and easily transportable antenna array system for field deployment during the planned extension of observation sites to Green Island. Due to the island's remote location, far from Taiwan's main island, both material supply and manpower are limited. In addition, the lack of natural terrain barriers results in severe damage when typhoons strike.

To address these challenges, the design adopts an aluminum extrusion frame to enable easy installation and rapid alignment. Locally sourced hollow bricks are used as ballast for stability, and the structural feasibility was verified by evaluating wind loads under typhoon-level wind speeds. After field installation, the antenna array successfully withstood a severe typhoon without any structural damage, demonstrating the design's robustness and reliability in extreme weather conditions.

This design provides a practical and resilient solution for expanding radio observation capabilities to remote island sites with limited logistical resources.
