Accommodations

We have reserved ~30 rooms in Howard Civil Service International House, with priorities given to invited speakers (single rooms) and Ph.D. students who receive lodging support (twin rooms). Vacancies are limited (on a first come, first serve basis).

(There are plenty of good lodging options in Taipei, which can be booked via services such as booking.com, airbnb.com, etc.)

• Reservation Procedure
• Select the room type and check-in/out dates on the workshop registration form. The LOC will confirm the room availability.
• Deadline: July 31, 2025
• For no-show or cancellation within 48 hours , a cancellation fee will be charged.
• Disposable items such as combs, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste and shower caps no longer offered in guests' rooms.

Visa-Exempt Entry & e-Visas

• 30-day visa-free privileges are afforded to citizens of more than 30 countries. Please visit Regulation of Visa-Exempt Entry and Landing Visas for Foreigners.
• Participants of other nationalities need to apply for a visa. For a faster visa application to attend this international conference, getting an electronic visa (eVisa) on-line is recommended instead of a regular visitor visa. To provide you with the required number (Ecode) for the eVisa application, please email the LOC a copy of your passport or a sharable link by May 31, 2025 with the subject: "eVISA application for YOUR NAME". We will provide you with the needed information about one month after the registration deadline, after which you can apply for an eVisa no later than 7 working days before coming to Taiwan.
• PRC Passport Holders: it takes 3 to 4 months to apply for a travel permit (來台入出境許可證). Please register as early as possible and follow the instructions to apply for a travel permit before May 31, 2025.
• Please note that your passport's expiration date should be at least six months after your trip.

Dining Places

You can easily find restaurants everywhere in the city. Prices vary but one meal should cost less than 10 USD in many restaurants. There are many restaurants in the alleys of XinSheng S. Rd. and Roosevelt Rd.

Transportation From International Airports

• Most international flights land in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Airport Code: TPE) which is situated 40km (24.8 miles) southwest of Taipei. Metro from the Taoyuan airport to ASIAA takes about 1.5 hours.
• Taipei Songshan Airport (Airport code: TSA) serves domestic flights and short-haul services to mainland China and Japan-Haneda(HND)/Korea-Gimpo(GMP). It's close to the Taipei city center.
• Please refer to ASIAA website for transportation from international airports to Taipei downtown.

Institute of Astronomy & Astrophysics, Academia Sinica (ASIAA) is located in the AS/NTU Astronomy-Mathematics Building at National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei. There are 3 MRT stations within walking distance: Gongguan, Taipower Building and Technology Building.
