Oral Presentation
On the SVS 13 Close Protobinary System (Remote)
Presenter: Guillem Anglada (Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia, CSIC)
SVS 13, the proposed driving source of the classical system of Herbig-Haro objects 7-11, is an interesting object that is both a strong mm source (suggesting that it is a very young protostar) and an optically detectable star (suggestive of a more evolved stage). The source appears as a binary at cm and mm wavelengths, with a projected separation of 90 au between the two components, but it appears as a single star at optical wavelengths. I will present some VLA and ALMA results of the cm, mm, and submm emission to characterize the small-scale physical, chemical and kinematic properties of the dust, ionized and molecular gas in the circumstellar and circumbinary environment of this source, which allow us to shed light on the early stages of binary formation.
