Magnetic fields and turbulence in the diffuse interstellar medium

Observations of the interstellar medium (ISM) keep challenging theory, even in the diffuse ISM, long seen as a simple environment. This has become all the more true since polarization data have emerged. My talk will include results on the Planck polarized galactic foregrounds, and on the dynamics of diffuse filaments inferred from molecular lines, highlighting how turbulence and magnetic fields possibly seed tenuous structures in the diffuse ISM.
