Oral Presentation

Probing cloud magnetic-field morphology from Atacama Desert with “APol”

Author(s): Yapeng ZHANG (CUHK)

Presenter: Yapeng Zhang (The Chinese University of Hong Kong)

In order to understand the birth of stars, the pre-stellar fields, we are building the submillimeter astronomical instrument APol, the polarimeter for the Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment (ASTE). With superb atmospheric condition in Atacama, APol can also contribute to magnetic fields in the vicinity of the Galactic central black hole and magnetic fields of extragalactic clouds. I will briefly introduce the main components and design of APol and the relevant science project example APol going to complement or further investigate.
