Theory of Magnetic Fields in Star and Disk Formation

I review recent theoretical work on the role of magnetic fields in molecular cloud fragmentation and in the formation of disks. Turbulence plays an important role in some cases and the relative strengths of gravity, magnetic fields, and turbulence can determine the outcome.
