Fragmentation in the molecular cloud is crucial in star formation. However, connect between the magnetic fields and fragmentation properties in molecular clouds remain unclear due to lack of observational constraints.
We detect bimodal mass distribution and fractalness of substructures in 10 Gould Belt molecular clouds, which consist with findings by a study of cloud–field alignment, which revealed a bimodal (parallel or perpendicular) alignment. We argue that magnetic field plays an important role in cloud fragmentation process.
