① From Taoyuan International Airport to Yilan Station

◆ Faster, cheaper option: Take a taxi to Taoyuan Train Station (not High Speed Rail), then catch a train to Yilan

Taxi: Takes 30 minutes, costs NTD 500.
Train: Take Puyuma or Tze-Chiang Limited Express train. It takes ~2 hours, and costs NTD 284.

◆ To stop by Taipei Main Station

Taoyuan Airport Metro: 45 minutes on the express train to 1 hour on the commuter train
Taxi: Takes 45 minutes, costs NTD 1200~1500

◆ Taxi to Yilan Station: 1 hr 20 min ~ 1 hr 50 min, NTD 2500~3000

② From Songshan International Airport to Yilan Station

◆ Fastest and most economical option: Take the MRT to Nangang Exhibition Station, then catch a direct non-stop bus to Yilan

MRT: Takes 30 minutes, costs NTD 35,
Alternatively, a taxi ride takes 20 minutes and costs around NTD 400.
Bus: Take bus 1878 from a bus stop near exit 1 of the Nangang Exhibition Station and get off at Yilanzhuanyun Station. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to Yilan Station. It takes ~1 hour and costs NTD 112.

◆ Scenic alternative: Take a taxi to Nangang train station, then take a train to Yilan

Taxi to Nangang train station: Takes 20 minutes, costs NTD 250~300.
Train: Take Puyuma, Taroko, or Tze-Chiang Limited Express. It takes 1~1.5 hours and costs NTD 197. Alternatively, you can choose the Fast Local Train, which takes 1 hr 40 min and costs NTD 127.

◆ Taxi: Takes 1 hr ~ 1 hr 20 min, costs NTD 1300~1500

③ From Taipei Main Station to Yilan Station

◆ Local train: Take Puyoma or Tze-Chiang Limited Express train. 1 hr 20 min, NTD 218.
Alternatively, you can choose the Fast Local Train, which takes 1 hour and 40 minutes, priced at NTD 140.

◆ Bus: Take bus 1916A at Taipei Bus Station and get off at Yilanzhuanyun Station. It is a 10 min walk to the Yilan Station. It departs every 30~50 min, NTD 140

◆ Taxi: 1 hour, NTD 1500

Currency

The New Taiwan Dollar (NTD) is the currency of Taiwan. The LOC recommends carrying cash when traveling. Consider bringing cash in EUR or USD and exchanging it at one of the bank counters at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Since the exchange rate varies daily, please check with the Bank of Taiwan for the current rates.

① Dongmen Night Market

A local night market close to the Yilan Station. It opens from 5 pm to midnight every day.

② Kavalan Distillery

Kavalan Whisky is a renowned Taiwanese whiskey originally hailing from the Kabalan plain, now known as Yilan County. With its exceptional quality and unique flavors, Kavalan Whisky has won numerous awards, including the 'World Whisky Producer of the Year 2023' title by the ISC.

③ Fengsheng Aiyu Farm 豐盛愛玉

Aiyu, a fruit native to Taiwan, is commonly used to make Aiyu jelly, a popular summer dessert. The Fengshen Aiyu Farm holds the distinction of being the largest Aiyu farm in Taiwan. For more information, you can visit this website.

④ Luodong Township (20 min by train from Yilan station)

Luodong Forest Cultural Park 羅東林業文化園區
The park is available from 8 am to 5 pm. Free admission.
Luodong Night market
The largest night market in Yilan county. It takes 20 min by train from the Yilan station to Luodong station. The night market opens from 3 pm to midnight every day.

⑤ Jiaoxi Township (20 min by train from Yilan station)

Jiaoxi is a charming coastal town with many hot spring resorts and spas

Tangweigou Hot Spring Park 湯圍溝溫泉公園
An outdoor spa features cozy pools where visitors can soak their feet. You can enjoy a unique massage experience as tiny fish gently nibble on your skin.
Jiaoxi Hot Spring Park 礁溪溫泉公園
Public hot springs are open 24 hours a day.
Mr. Brown Coffee
You can relax with a cup of coffee in a castle-style building perched on the mountain peak, enjoying the nice surroundings with a windmill and trees. You will need a taxi to go there.
