Oral Presentation
Current status of LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA gravitational-wave observations
Presenter: Soichiro Morisaki (Institute for Cosmic-Ray Research/ICRR, University of Tokyo)
Since the first direct detection of gravitational waves (GWs) in 2015, the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) collaboration has completed 3 observing runs, detecting around 100 GW signals. Those observations enabled us to learn the dynamics and astrophysics of merging black holes and neutron stars, and the population properties of merging black holes in the Universe. To detect more GW signals and expand our understanding of those topics, the LVK started the fourth observing run (O4) in May 2023. In this talk, I will review what we have learned from the previous observing runs and the current status of O4.
