Overview on physical properties of protoplanetary disks from recent observations

Author(s): Misato Fukagawa (NAOJ)

Presenter: Misato Fukagawa (National Astronomical Observatory of Japan)

A brief overview on the observed properties of protoplanetary disks will be provided with an emphasis on the disk sub-structures. We have seen a significant progress in understanding disks but there are still a lot of questions to be answered to understand, for example, planetesimal formation in disks. The purpose of this overview is therefore to provide a starting point for discussions about the future direction of observations with current and next generation instruments, which eventually enabling us to link disk properties to the exoplanets architecture.
