Oral Presentation
The Event Horizon Telescope: Array, Observations and Calibration of the 2017 Data
Presenter: Jun Yi Koay (ASIAA)
The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) comprises an array of sub-mm telescopes, including the phased-up ALMA, with the goal of studying the physics of supermassive black holes and jet-launching at event horizon scales. In this talk, I will describe the EHT array and the April 2017 observing campaign. I will also present the steps taken to correlate and calibrate the 2017 data, that led to the production of the first black hole image.
