Technical details of SMI

SMI (SPICA Mid-infrared Instrument) is one of the SPICA focal-plane instruments dedicated to mid-IR spectroscopy in a wavelength range from 12 to 36 um and composed of three spectroscopic channels. We will introduce the details of the current instrumental design of SMI including the optics, structure, thermal design, detector operation, and data handling.
