Oral Presentation

Multi-Messenger Astrophysics in Taiwan

Author(s): Albert Kong (NTHU)

Presenter: Albert Kong (National Tsing Hua University)

The detection of gravitational wave events opens an entire new observing window of astrophysics and gravitational wave research has become a new frontier in science. Even with limited support, Taiwan has participated in the development of LIGO and multi-wavelength follow-up. In the next few years, Taiwan will increase investment on gravitational wave research including participation of the new underground gravitational wave detector in Japan, KAGRA. Several universities are also in collaboration to make contributions on data analysis and numerical relativity. Lulin Observatory will continue to support optical follow-up. In this talk, I will report the current status of gravitational wave research activities in Taiwan.
