Oral Presentation
Enrichment of Heavy Elements in the Local Group Galaxies
Presenter: Yutaka Hirai (RIKEN)
Abundances of heavy elements in metal-poor stars help us understand the formation and evolution of galaxies. Recent high-dispersion spectroscopic observations significantly increase the number of metal-poor stars with detected abundances of heavy elements. However, enrichment histories of heavy elements are not well understood. In this talk, I will review the current states of numerical simulations of galaxies on the enrichment of heavy elements. I will show that neutron star mergers and electron-capture supernovae play an important role in the enrichment of heavy elements. I will also present that abundances of heavy elements can be tracers of star formation histories and metal mixing in galaxies.
