Medium-energy Experiments - ion analyzer onboard ERG

Medium-Energy Particle experiments - ion mass analyzer (MEP-i) was developed for the Energization and Radiation in Geopspace (ERG) mission in order to obtain the three dimensional distribution function of inner-magnetospheric ions in the medium-energy range between 10 and 180 keV/q. Energy, mass and charge state of each ion are measured by a combination of electrostatic energy analyzer, time-of-flight mass analyzer and solid state detectors. We present the instrumentation of MEPi, its data products and its observation results in a magnetic storm.
