Revealing Physical, Chemical, and Morphological Structures of Nearby Luminous Infrared Galaxies
Presenter: Toshiki Saito (The University of Tokyo, NAOJ)
We present our new results of three nearby luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs), VV 114, NGC 1614 and NGC 6240, from high-resolution (0".2-1".6) observations with ALMA Band 3-9. Those systems are known as gas-rich merging galaxies, harboring molecular gas and dust ISM strongly affected by AGN, starburst, and/or large-scale shock. Our high-resolution imaging of multiple transitions and species revealed that the (1) thermal, (2) chemical, and (3) morphological states of molecular gas in those LIRGs are significantly different. In this talk, we highlight our observational results from three different points of view.
