Review Presentation
Star formation from ALMA's point of view
Presenter: Woojin Kwon (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI))
Star formation is one of the fundamental events in the universe,
which leads galaxy evolution and even results in living creatures.
Active research in the past few decades has allowed us to draw a
big picture of star formation: stars form in cold, dense molecular
clouds by gravitational collapse. However, many of the details have
not been known yet: e.g., magnetic field roles. I will review
understandings on star formation recently achieved and/or extended
particularly by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array
(ALMA). The topics include episodic accretion, magnetic fields, and
multiplicity of young stellar objects.
