ALMA and MaNGA views on green valley galaxies
Presenter: Lihwai Lin (ASIAA)
Green valley galaxies are thought to be in the transition phase from the star-forming sequence (the so-called `main-sequence') to the quiescent population. In order to understand the role of molecular gas in quenching the star formation activities in galaxies, we have conducted CO(1-0) observations with ALMA for 3 green valley galaxies selected from the SDSS-IV/MaNGA IFU survey. The resolved star formation rate, stellar mass, and gas mass measurements allow us to study the relationship between star formation efficiency and specific star formation rate, as well as the gas contents on the Kpc scale for transitional galaxies. I will present our results and discuss their implications on the star formation quenching in the evolution of galaxies.
