The Milky Way and Nearby Galaxies in the ALMA Era

I plan to review ALMA results on nearby galaxies and discuss a synergy between Galactic and extragalactic studies with ALMA and other observational facilities. In particular, I will focus on the evolution of ISM and star formation in galaxies. If time allows, I will also discuss the internal structure of molecular clouds revealed by ALMA Cycle 4 data.
