Invited Presentation

Status and near future of the ALMA Band 1 Receiver Development Project

Author(s): Oscar Morata (ASIAA), Francisca Kemper (ASIAA), Ted Huang (ASIAA) and the Band 1 Consortium

Presenter: Oscar Morata (ASIAA)

The original design of ALMA Band 1 receiver was to provide access to the
frequencies around 40 GHz (35-51 GHz) at high resolution and sensitivity. An
extense Science Case was developed showing numerous compelling cases for the
new ALMA receiver. After approval of the project by the ALMA Board early last
year, we are about to enter the production and science verification phases of
the project. In this presentation, I will provide a brief review of the
current status and schedule of the receiver development, the plans for
science verification and a summary of the exciting new science that will be
done by ALMA Band 1.
