The Cross-Strait Symposium of Astrophysics, previously the ASIAA-SHAO bilateral workshop, will be held in the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Academia Sinica, on July 1-3, ending at noon on July 3, to be followed by the APRIM.

This symposium series alternates between the two sides of the Strait, hosted by one participating Institution approximately every one and half year. The activities through hosting symposia aim to promote interactions of individual research areas of working Astronomers and Astrophysicists, instrumentation, and theoretical modeling and computational simulations in Astrophysics, originally motivated by the proximity and complementarity of Institutions across the Strait. This year, the symposium will take place in the ASIAA. In addition to colleagues in ASIAA and Universities in Taiwan, colleagues from University of Science and Technology of China (in Hefei, Anhui, USTC), the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, and Principal Investigators from key laboratories in China will join. Topics to be discussed and interacted include all major research directions from large scales to small scales: Cosmology, Black Holes and Active Galactic Nuclei, Galaxies, Stars, the Solar System, and the Exoplanets, as well as active instrumentation and telescope accesses. It is anticipated that common areas and interests with strong and developmental advantages will be identified and further cultivated through mutual communications and exchanges.

海峽兩岸天體物理研討會是中研院天文所與上海天文台的雙邊會議，是系列會議，已續5屆，每1.5年一次，兩邊輪流承辦。此活動源起於天文所與上海天文台雙方長期於研究領域，儀器建製, 理論計算，之互補性，又有地域相近的優勢，故邀請兩所同仁進行雙邊交流。從上屆開始，擴展到了包括廈門大學以及科大， 更名為海峽兩岸天體物理研討會。會議議題包括天體物理所有主要方向：宇宙學、星系、黑洞、恒星等。自第二屆起天文所邀請台灣大學天文學者參與，以期集結優勢，共同發展華人優勢領域。
