Mapping AGN Emission Line Regions using SDSS and Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam Survey
Presenter: Ai-Lei Sun (ASIAA)
AGN extended emission-line regions (EELRs) are among the most extended emission-line systems in the local universe. With sizes up to tens of kpc, they are ideal laboratories to study the impact of the AGN on its host galaxies. I present a new broadband photometric method to study the size and morphology of EELRs using large-scale imaging surveys, e.g., the SDSS and Subaru HSC surveys. Promising EELR candidates of sizes up to 50 kpc are identified, some of which with spectroscopy follow-up showed outflow signatures. The large sample size offered by photometric techniques allows new statistical investigations, opening a new way to study the interaction between AGN and their host galaxies.
