Invited Presentation
A hidden sea of Red Supergiants
Presenter: Maria Messineo (University of Science and Technology)
Our Milky Way is the closest stellar laboratory, but,
Galactic stellar studies are troubled by the lack of
precise distances and dust obscuration. It is easier to observationally detect massive stars in clusters and associations. Recent studies show that a significant number of massive stars could be in isolation. I would like to present an overview of detections of red supergiants in the inner Galaxy and some statistics of clustered versus isolated red supergiants.
