Pointing toward the Sun: Comet Watch with JCMT
Presenter: Yi-Jehng Kuan (National Taiwan Normal University/ASIAA)
Comets contain a rich reservoir of different molecular species. (Sub-)Millimeter spectral observations of cometary molecules are therefore key to understanding comet diversity, and the origin and chemical complexity of the Solar System's primordial volatiles. I will briefly describe our experiences with JCMT comet observations. Some of the exciting results from our recent comet campaign will be presented. JCMT's superb daytime observing capability makes it a unique and among the best single-dish observing facilities in the (sub-)millimeter for comet studies.
