MUSCAT on the JCMT
Presenter: Simon Doyle (Cardiff University)
MUSCAT is a large format 1.1mm continuum camera based upon MKID technology currently operating at the Large Millimetre Telescope (LMT) in Mexico. MUSCAT is expected to be a pathfinder for a potential MKID based replacement of the SCUBA-2 instrument and is planned to move to the JCMT in 2026. This talk will provide an update and timeline for moving MUSCAT to the JCMT and potential upgrades to a polarisation sensitive focal plane operating at 850 um. The performance and limitations of MUSCAT on the LMT will also be presented.
