Oral Presentation
Spectroscopic Observations of Variability-Selected AGNs with Subaru/PFS
Presenter: Mitsuru Kokubo (National Astronomical Observatory of Japan)
With recent advances in multi-messenger astronomy, optical time-domain observations have become increasingly important. Time-domain surveys enable the identification of AGNs as variable sources in galactic nuclei. This variability-based AGN selection allows us to construct AGN samples that include objects missed by conventional color-based selection methods, such as intermediate-mass, low-luminosity AGNs. In this talk, I will present our ongoing studies of AGN samples that incorporate time-domain information, based on spectroscopy obtained with the through the PFS-SSP and Subaru open-use observations. I will also discuss the prospects for PFS spectroscopic observations in the era following the start of Rubin/LSST operations in 2026.
