Atmospheric dispersion can be a significant problem for ground-based optical instruments operating over large wavelength ranges even at fairly modest zenith distances. A 'longitudinal' atmospheric dispersion corrector (ADC) with two fused silicon prisms is designed to provide dispersion compensation. The structure system of ADC has two main functions: the one is to mount and support the two prisms with required surface performance, and the other is to provide linear and rotational motion for the two prisms.
