Bridging Black Holes: Taiwan's Contributions to Gravitational Wave Research and Multi-Wavelength Astronomy

Author(s): Albert Kong (National Tsing Hua University)

Presenter: Albert Kong (National Tsing Hua University)

The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) project has revolutionized our understanding of black holes by capturing the first-ever shadow images of supermassive black holes. Meanwhile, gravitational wave research has transformed the field of astrophysics by providing a new window into the universe. Scientists in Taiwan have actively engaged in EHT, LIGO, and KAGRA. In this presentation, I will highlight Taiwan’s significant contributions to gravitational wave research and discuss how multi-wavelength astronomers in Taiwan bridge the study of stellar-mass black holes and supermassive black holes.
