Star Formation And Fragmentation in Dense Core in Orion A
Presenter: Jo-Shui Kao (ASIAA)
When dense cores in molecular clouds collapse and form stars, they may fragment and result in multiple system. However, the key mechanisms controlling fragmentation and determining the mass and separation of fragments remind unclear observationally. In this project, we measure the physical condition in dense cores in Orion A to find the condition of fragmentation. First, we investigate the relationship between turbulence, magnetic field and fragmentation. The result suggests that magnetic field could suppress the fragmentation in dense cores, as shown in theoretical simulations. Then, we calculate the jeans mass and find that the dense cores with mass larger than jeans mass tend to fragmentation.
