Invited Presentation
The contribution of pebble accretion to planet formation
Presenter: Michiel Lambrechts (University of Copenhagen / Lund University)
This review talk will broadly cover the role of pebble accretion in the process of forming planets. We will firstly discuss the physics of pebble accretion and how this mechanism regulates the growth of small embryos to fully grown planets. We then proceed with a broader view on the pebble accretion scenario, in an effort to lay out the major physical processes at play, using an exoplanet population synthesis approach. Finally, pebble accretion will be explored in the context of the Solar System with specific attention to the isotopic dichotomy present in the terrestrial planet region, a highly active area of research. Finally, I will cover future prospects and those areas that need more in depth work.
