NCTS-ASIAA Workshop: Stars, Planets, and Formosa
August 15(Mon)-19(Fri), 2022
Onsite + Online

Rationale

Star and planet formation is one of the most rapidly developing fields in astrophysics, thanks to the continuous observational drive from advanced telescopes such as ALMA. While there are significant challenges in both the interpretation of new observations and the fundamentals of star and planet formation, they also represent exciting opportunities for theorists, including the relatively small but growing community in Taiwan.

This workshop, co-organized by the Theoretical and Computational Astrophysics Thematic Group at the National Center for Theoretical Sciences and ASIAA, aims to bring together theorists to shape the future landscape of star and planet formation theory in Taiwan. The workshop will allow domestic researchers to share results, connect with international colleagues, and foster collaborations. Through dedicated discussions, we will identify key topics in which the Taiwanese community can make an impact.

The meeting will take a hybrid format with talks and discussions taking place both onsite and online, but poster sessions are onsite only. Participants based in Taiwan are encouraged to attend onsite.

Registration is required to apply for talks, meals, travel support, and to receive the virtual meeting link. However, interested participants are welcome to attend the onsite events without registering. Limited travel and lodging funds are available to junior participants. For details, see the registration page.
