Search for Ha emitters at z~7.8: A Constraint on the Ha-based Star Formation Rate Density
Presenter: Yoshihisa Asada (Kyoto University)
We present a result of searching for Ha emitters at z~7.8 using the IRAC 5.8 um band observations towards gravitationally lensed fields in the Hubble Frontier Fields program.
The star formation rate density (SFRD) at the high-z universe has been investigated mainly through the rest-frame UV observations, but recent far-infrared (FIR) observations show the dust-obscured star formation may significantly contribute to the total star formation activities even at the high-z universe.
As an independent approach, we use the Ha emission line, and search for Ha emitters at z~7.8, which results in no significant detections in the IRAC 5.8 um band.
We derive a constraint on the SFRD from this nondetection, and further discuss the comparison with previous studies based on other probes such as rest-frame UV and FIR emission.
