Oral Presentation
Studying galaxy evolution with the new COSMOS surveys
Presenter: Jorge Zavala (NAOJ - ALMA Staff Scientist)
The COSMOS survey covers a 2 square degree equatorial field with spectroscopy and X-ray to radio imaging by the most powerful telescopes with more than 2 million detected galaxies. This significant effort will soon be improved with the state-of-the-art surveys from ALMA, JWST, and Keck. In this talk, we will summarize the main scientific goals of these surveys, with a particular emphasis on the ALMA 2mm MORA survey, the COSMOS-Web JWST survey, and the Keck WERLS program. These projects will revolutionize our understanding of the Epoch of Reionization and the formation and evolution of galaxies across cosmic time.
The planning of new parallel surveys and exploitation of these data within the East Asian community is thus necessary.
