Oral Presentation
Evolution of dust grain size distribution in galaxies
Presenter: Hiroyuki Hirashita (ASIAA)
Dust plays an important role in various processes in the interstellar medium of galaxies. Thus, clarifying the evolution of dust is essentially important in studying galaxy evolution. For dust evolution, it is important to understand the dust amount and the dust properties (especially the grain size distribution). We modeled the evolution of these two aspects consistently. In this talk, I will put a particular focus on our recent application of the model to (i) high-redshift galaxies (Liu & Hirashita 2019), and (ii) PAH evolution (Rau, Hirashita, & Murga 2019). In these studies, we succeed in predicting extinction curves (i) in high-redshift galaxies and (ii) in explaining the PAH abundance as a function of metallicity in nearby galaxies.
