Invited Presentation
The current status of PFS project
Presenter: Kiyoto Yabe (Kavli IPMU)
The Prime Focus Spectrograph (PFS) is a next-generation, fiber-fed, multi-object spectrograph of the Subaru Telescope, starting its scientific operation from early 2022. Thanks to its wide field-of-view (~1.3 deg^2), high multiplicity (~2400 fibers), and wide wavelength coverage (from 380 to 1260 nm), PFS is expected to be a powerful survey instrument of the Subaru Telescope to cover a wide range of science cases such as cosmology, galaxy/AGN formation and evolution, and Galactic archaeology. In this talk, we briefly present the overview of the instrument, the current status of PFS project including hardware and software development, a large spectroscopic survey in the framework of the Subaru Strategic Program (SSP), and the timeline.
