Oral Presentation
The dust properties in the IC5146 cloud traced by multi-wavelength polarimetry
Presenter: Jia-Wei Wang (National Tsing Hua University)
Polarization from magnetically aligned dust is commonly used as a tool to probe the magnetic fields in molecular clouds. Therefore, understanding the dust properties and alignment condition is essential to indicate how deep the magnetic fields can be traced. In this talk, I will show that the “polarization color” (ratio of polarization fraction at two wavelengths) is a useful tool to constrain the dust size in statistic basis. In addition, our debiased polarization efficiency analysis suggest that the dust grains within denser clouds can still align with magnetic fields, which is possibly caused by grain growth or internal radiation field.
