Oral Presentation
Torsionally-Excited CH3OH Line as a Direct Tracer of the First Core with the ALMA Band 1 Observation
Presenter: Shigehisa Takakuwa (Kagoshima University / ASIAA)
We present our plan to directly image the first core in the torsionally-excited CH3OH line at Band 1. As the dust-continuum emission becomes optically thick at 3-mm and the shorter wavelengths, it has been difficult to directly image the surface of the first core in molecular lines. At the band 1 frequency, on the other hand, the dust-continuum emission is less optically thick, and it is feasible to directly image the torsionally-excited CH3OH line originated from the first core itself. The excitation condition and chemical property of
the torsionally-excited CH3OH line well match the physical and chemical status of the first core. We will discuss these points and aim
to promote the Band 1 collaboration on low-mass star formation among the East-Asian Community.
