A modified Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi method

Many astrophysical fluids are strongly magnetized and magnetic fields play important roles in many astrophysical processes. Therefore, accurate measurement of magnetic field is of great importance. Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi (DCF) method is a simple and powerful method to measure the strength of magnetic fields in interstellar clouds. In this talk, I will show how it works and what is its limitation. I will discuss how to improve the technique and propose a modified CDF method. I will present numerical results that support our modified DCF method. I will also discuss a limitation of our technique and a way to overcome it.
