Oral Presentation
Light-scattering tools at SPb Univ. and modelling of IS extinction and polarization
Presenter: Vladimir Il'in (St. Petersburg University)
We make a brief overview of the light-scattering codes developed by our group as well as outline our near-future plans. Our most advanced codes treat homogeneous spheroids and core-mantle ones with the confocal boundaries of the layers and provide both various cross-sections and scattering matrix. In our plans are rewriting the codes in C or contemporary Fortran and implantation of the treatment of multi-layered spheroids with non-confocal boundaries of layers.
We also discuss modelling of the interstellar extinction and polarization. We note the problems of such modelling, its current state and some perspectives. We list the main results of our modelling works performed for the last 10 years and outline possible steps forward and applications.
