Task Description and Goals
This project is to study the formation of the first galaxies in the early universe by carrying out sophisticated cosmological simulations. Recent results from numerical and analytical studies suggest that the first galaxies formed about several hundred million years after the Big Bang. Modern telescopes are approaching to the detection of the first galaxies. However, theoretical studies barely reach the degree of sophistication to provide meaningful predictions, because the models suffer from the difficulties of considering different spacial scales and physical processes. One of the key challenges is to understand the radiation and chemical feedback from the first stars and supernovae (SNe) during the assembly of the first galaxies. Therefore, we plan to use cosmological simulations including relevant physics to address this problem. The goal of this project is to understand the formation process of the first galaxies.
