Task Description and Goals
We develop hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic codes and solvers for astrophysical problems in CompAS. We invite students to explore and validate high-order conservative finite difference methods and others under development. The students will be given a short introduction to the state-of-art numerical codes and solvers. The students will have hands-on experience testing the accuracy and performance of numerical methods for HD-MHD problems. We look for highly-motivated students with strong interests in numerical methods, code development techniques, and their potential applications. The experiences obtained will prove very helpful in future career development in science and engineering.
Required Background
Required backgrounds:
Good knowledge of any of these programming languages: Python, C/C++ or Fortran.
College-level applied mathematics or mathematical methods
English communication, reading, and writing.
Plus, knowledge of the following may be desirable:
Python, Matlab, or interactive plotting tools.
