First Announcement

The foundation of modern astrophysical research lies in observation, theory, and instrumentation. Through participating in the international projects such as SMA, ALMA, and Subaru, the development of observational and instrumental research in Taiwan has grown stronger than ever. Compared to these observational impacts, it seems that the theoretical research in Taiwan is still in the phase of development, although individual studies are of excellent quality. More specifically, there are two points to strengthen: (i) increasing the impact of Taiwanese theoretical astrophysics, (ii) integration of individuals’ strength. The improvement regarding (i) could be made by getting more resources and workforce. The point (ii) could be achieved by increasing our interaction. To improve the situation, several new theory faculty and postdoc members recently joined the major research universities/institutes in Taiwan and brought in new research fields. Therefore, it is timely and vital to hold a workshop to introduce these new blood to the community and activate collaborative discussions among theorists in Taiwan. Improved communication within the community is also the first viable step toward( i ).

This workshop focuses on broad topics of theoretical astrophysics. ASIAA hopes to provide a platform for Taiwanese theorists working on high energy astrophysics, computational astrophysics, astroparticle physics, cosmology, and gravitational wave astrophysics to present their work in this workshop and to enhance collaborations among research groups in Taiwan.
