Visa
- Foreign nationals may obtain visitor visas if they hold foreign passports or travel documents valid for more than six months. 30 or 90 days visa-free privileges are afforded to citizens of more than 30 countries. For any further information, please visit the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Regulation of Visa-Exempt Entry and Landing Visas for Foreigners
- For Visitors from Mainland China: The Institute will provide assistance to apply for the Taiwan Entry Permit for PRC residents. Please follow the instructions below to apply for Travel Permit.
International Airports
Most international flights land in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Airport Code: TPE) which is situated 40km (24.8 miles) southwest of Taipei. The airport website provides detailed information such as Procedures & Regulations for Arrival, Prohibited & Restricted Items.
Taipei Songshan Airport (Airport code: TSA) serves chartered flights, most of which are to and from mainland China , domestic flights, and some international flights to Tokyo-Haneda. It's close to the Taipei city center.
1. Transportation from Taipei Songshan Airport to Taipei Main Station
  - By Taxi
    Taxi cab can be hired outside the Arrival Hall. The taxi charges according to the meter.
  - By MRT
    Take the Wenshan-Neihu Line from Songshan Airport Station to Taipei Main Station directly.
2. Transportation from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Taipei Main Station
  - By Taxi
    Taxi cab can be hired outside the Arrival Hall. There is a flat rate of NT$ 1200 to Taipei city center. The trip takes about an hour by car/taxi. Note: Please ignore any solicitations of taxi service inside the Arriving Hall. Do hire one at the official taxi stop.
  - By Bus
    There are several bus companies in service. The bus terminal locates inside the Arrival Hall (please follow the sign). Luggage is self served. The bus fare ranges from NT$ 120 to 135 depending on the location of the terminal stop in Taipei.

Climate
Taiwan is surrounded by oceans and the ocean breezes are the reason for Taiwan's humid weather. During autumn, you can mostly enjoy the cool and soothing weather. The average temperature in October is a comfortable 22-28 degrees Celsius (71/82 Fahrenheit). Although the weather is relatively stable in this season, the cold front and warm front could bring in temporal fluctuations in weather conditions. Please check out the weather forecase before departure.
Currency
The New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) is the currency used in Taiwan. Foreign currency exchange is available at banks and international hotels. Some banks at the International Airport operate 24 hours. Please visit the airport website. The exchange rate changes everyday, please consult the services in the Bank of Taiwan to get the detailed exchange rate. For reference, on Jan 20, 2011, the exchange was roughly 40 TWD to one Euro, or 30 TWD to one US$ or Cdn$.

NTD600 (由本會議先行代墊, 請於會議報到當天繳納)

申請流程：

1. 將上述1-4文件 Email 至Yi-Wen Cheng 鄭以文先生

注意事項：

為加速申請時間，請同時申辦大陸當地通行證。如需邀請函等文件配合，請Email告知。

大陸與會者自第三地區非從大陸當地來台申請流程：

A. 先將上述1-4必要文件Email或傳真後，寄送至上述地址，以辦理邀請單位保證書 。

B. 待收到文件，辦妥保證書後，會連同其他申請旅行證必要文件寄還。

C. 請收到後，自行至第三地區當地台灣辦事處申辦旅行證。

D. 申請費用: 請自行於當地辦事處直接繳納

E. 請告知當地台灣辦事處，旅行證核發將由台灣大學天文物理所鄭以文先生代領（較節省時間）。

F. 待收到旅行證後寄還。
