The National Taiwan University (Physics Department) and Academia Sinica (Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics) are jointly organizing The Eighth Taipei Astrophysics Workshop (TAW8) entitled "AMiBA 2001: High-z Clusters, Missing Baryons, and CMB Polarization", from Monday 11 June to Friday 15 June inclusive. The workshop will be held at the National Taiwan University in Taipei for the first 2 days, and the following 3 days will be at a resort hotel in the Taroko National Park on the East Coast of Taiwan.

(The train trips between Taipei and Hualien along the East Coast of Taiwan will be arranged by the organizers. The travel expenses are included in the registration fee.)

The workshop is aimed at the main science topics relevant to the AMiBA (Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy) project:

Format of Workshop

The workshop contains a series of invited talks, including 1 hr review and 1/2 hr current results talks. In addition, there will be a poster session and some 15-min contributed talks.

Workshop Proceedings

The workshop proceedings will be published by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific as part of the ASP Conference Series. Registered participants will receive a copy.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is NT$7500 (approx. 250 US Dollars), it is reduced to NT$2200 (approx. 75 US Dollars) for students. It should be paid in New Taiwan Dollars at the registration desk of the workshop.

The registration fee will cover the costs of the Taipei/Hualien train trips, workshop proceedings, and workshop banquet.
