  2. International Airport
    Most international flights land in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Airport Code: TPE) which is situated 40km (24.8 miles) southwest of Taipei. The airport website provides detailed information such as Procedures & Regulations for Arrival, Prohibited & Restricted Items.
  3. Climate
    Taiwan is surrounded by oceans and the ocean breezes are the reason for Taiwan's humid weather. During autumn, you can mostly enjoy the cool and soothing weather. The average temperature in November is a comfortable 20-23 degrees Celsius (68/73 Fahrenheit) with lowest temperatures ranging from 17 to 19 degrees Celsius (62-66 Fahrenheit). Although the weather is relatively stable in this season, the cold front and warm front could bring in temporal fluctuations in weather conditions. Please check out the weather forecase before departure.
  4. Currency
    The New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) is the currency used in Taiwan. Foreign currency exchange is available at banks and international hotels. Some banks at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport operate 24 hours. The exchange rate changes everyday, please consult the services in the Bank of Taiwan to get the detailed exchange rate. For reference, on Nov 9, 2010 the exchange was roughly 42 TWD to one Euro, or 30 TWD to one US$ or Cdn$.
  5. Electrical Power: 110V AC, 60Hz (USA plug type).
  6. Public phone
    Public phone in Taiwan can be operated either by coins or a IC card. There are 16 zones according to 16 counties and cities in Taiwan. All cross zone calls are long distance calls. International calls can be made with public phone marked “International”. Only IC cards can be used for international calls. Note: The discount rate time for long distance and international calls is from 11 pm to 8 am the next day.
  7. Transportation From Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to ASIAA
    • By Taxi
      Taxi cab can be hired outside the Arrival Hall. There is a flat rate of NT$ 1300 to ASIAA(NTU) or any place in downtown Taipei. The trip takes about an hour by car/taxi. Note: Please ignore any solicitations of taxi service inside the Arriving Hall.  Do hire one at the official taxi stop.
    • By Bus
      The trip takes about 90-120 minutes by bus plus MRT. There are several bus companies in service. The bus terminal locates inside the Arrival Hall (please follow the sign).  Luggage is self served.  The bus fare varies from NT$ 110 to 140 depending on the location of the terminal stop in Taipei. Taxi is easily being hired at the bus terminal stop.
      Recommended Bus Routes to ASIAA (NTU):
      Take the Kuokuang Line [1840] or Free Go Bus [5502] to Taipei Songshan Airport (the terminal stop). Take the MRT Wenshan-Neihu Line from Songshan Airport Station to Technology Building Station directly (NT$ 25). It's a 15-minute walk from MRT Technology Building Station to ASIAA. [Map]
