Oral Presentation

An unbiased exploration of the properties of the Universe at z~2-3

Author(s): Sebastien Foucaud and the UKIDSS-UDS Team

Presenter: Sebastien Foucaud (National Taiwan Normal University)

By combining very deep CFHT-MegaCam U-band data with the very deep Near-Infrared data from the UKIDSS-UDS DR8 and very deep optical data from Subaru, I have studied the UV- and NIR- luminosity and the clustering properties of galaxies at z~2-3.

These analysis show that at this epoch the galaxies at the high-end of the mass distribution have already quenched their star-formation and were living in the most massive haloes. However the bulk of the massive galaxies are primarily dusty and star-forming and live in groups in massive haloes. The less massive galaxies, occupying the lower end of the mass distribution, are star-forming and UV-bright and live in isolation in the less massive dark matter haloes.
